As a founding member of Rob Anderson’s Community Enabler (Melborne, AU) projects since November of 2003, Rob and I have had many discussions about our respective visions for building meaningful communities online. Rob’s approach has been a global “top to bottom” approach, where as mine has been a grass roots local “bottom to top” approach. We determined that both concepts were needed, and that we would form an alliance to put our respective strategies to work in conjunction with one another.
Rob’s “Cagora” world vision, and my “TalkRite” regional vision have now both been launched, and a marriage of the first communities for the Monadnock region of southwestern New Hampshire has been born, providing a powerhouse of services (some free) nowhere else to be found. Rob’s attention to the “social” and “special interest” communities brings depth and added dimension to http://TheMonadnock.com the TalkRite online community, that consists only of business and non-profit groups as publishing members.
The two networks working together, along with a new NEWSPRINT publication, “The Monadnock Community News” provides free local publicity to active “http://TheMonadnock.com” community members destined to create strong public awareness and to “CREATE WEB TRAFFIC” through the partial publishing of certain articles positioned to tease the reader to go online in order to finish reading them. There are 40 towns in the Monadnock region, and distribution of this free monthly publication will be provided by participating retailers and community members. The first issue is scheduled to hit the news stands by September 1st.
